Main Bodies
Business Lawyers Association of Serbia has several hundreds of members who take part in managing the Association and in achieving its goals by acting within the main bodies of the Association.
All bodies are elected for a period of five years.
For their service in bodies of the Association, the members receive no remuneration.
Association bodies are:
President of the Association
The President of the Business Lawyers Association of Serbia is elected and dismissed by a decision of the General Assembly. By virtue of his or her position, the President of the Association also presides over Managing and Executive Board. The main responsibilities of the President include representation and presentation of the Association, organization of its work as well as the assumption of liability for the legality of Association's acitivities. The President takes care that the decisions of Managing and Executive Board are properly applied. Vice-Presidents may help the President with the performance of his or her duties and they may replace him or her in case of absence.
The role of President is conferred on Mr. Mirko Vasiljević, PhD, member of the Academy, full professor and dean the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, who sucessfully performs this duty ever since the Association was first established.
General Assembly
The General Assembly of the Business Lawyers Association of Serbia is made up of all the members of the Association and it represents its highest body. It is normally held at least once a year. The Assembly sessions are convened by the Managing Board at its own initiative or at the request of at least 30 members. The decisions of the Assembly are adopted by majority of the members present.
Within its scope of competence, the General Assembly may:
• adopt the Statute of the Association and decide on its amendments;
• appoint and dismiss: Managing Board, Executive Board, President of the Association and the
Secretary-General;
• adopt action plans and annual reports;
• discuss and deliberate the reports of Managing and Supervisory Board;
• decide on the questions regarding the membership in international organizations; and
• decide on the termination of the Association's acitivity.
Managing Board
The Managing Board consists of the President of the Association, two Vice-Presidents, members of the Executive Board and the members appointed by the Assembly. The Managing Board holds meetings when necessary, but at least once in six months. The meetings of the Managing Board are convened by the President at his own initiative or at the request of at least 10 members of the Managing Board.
The Managing Board has the following competences:
• it organizes the work of the Association between two sessions of the Assembly;
• it implements the decisions of the Assembly to which submits reports;
• it takes decisions regarding the publications, appoints the members of the International Scientific Council and of the Editorial Board;
• it operates the activities of the Association aimed at achieving goals and objectives;
• it adopts the annual action plan and the estimation of the budget.
Executive Board
The Executive Board consists of the President of the Association, two Vice-Presidents, the Secretary-General and six members appointed by the Assembly. The Executive Board takes care of the implementation of the decisions adopted by the Managing Board. To that effect it takes the appropriate measures and organizes the necessary activities. The meetings of the Executive Board are convened by the President, when necessary.

Supervisory Board
Supervisory Board consists of the President of the Association and four members. This body supervises the material operations of the Association and submits reports on its activity to the General Assembly.

Secretary-General
Secretary-General is elected for a period of four years. By virtue of his or her position, the Secretary-General is also a member of Managing and Executive Board. The role of the Secretary-General is to perform all duties necessary for preparing the sessions of all the bodies of the Association and implementing their decisions. The Secretary-General takes minutes at the sessions of the Assembly and the Managing Board and represents the Association in financial and other legal transactions. Alongside the President of the Association, the Secretary-General is entitled to give orders for the implementation of financial plans and for the use of other sources of the Association. Finally, the Secretary-General takes care of the implementation of the decisions of all the Association bodies.
The duty of Secretary-General of the Business Lawyers Association of Serbia is conferred on Mrs. Smiljka Bilankov.
